The World Largest Japanese Food Festival, JAPAN Fes 2023 Will Kick Off Soon!
The Japanese food festival loved by 150,000 people last year is coming back to NYC!! In 2023, JAPAN Fes produces the most event days ever: more than 20 events will be held all over NYC and feature more than 650 vendors from Japan, LA, and the Netherlands.
WHAT:
On Sunday, March 26th, JAPAN Fes is back after getting even more powered up. More than 20 days of JAPAN Fes are scheduled from March to October, not only in Manhattan but also Brooklyn and Queens. This year, various unique restaurants and shops are literally coming from Japan so that visitors can discover new delicious tastes in Japanese cuisine here. Also, JAPAN Fes is hosting popular ramen restaurants from LA and the Netherlands. Check out the first JAPAN Fes of 2023 on March 26th, taking over at East Village Astor place between Broadway and Lafeyette.

To celebrate the first event of the year, JAPAN Fes offers you a unique Japanese style of dishes you have never tasted in other places: Kakiage which is a mixed vegetable and seafood tempura. Nowadays, supermarkets in NYC produce their own Kakiage, but JAPAN Fes will be the perfect chance to try an original taste of Japanese Kakiage! Also, Instagram-able food, such as Takoyaki (octopus balls with dancing bonito flakes on the top), Kakigōri (Japanese shaved ice with colorful syrup), and Obanyaki (cute red bean-filled wheel cake), is waiting for Japanese food enthusiasts.
Of course, New Yorker's favorite Japanese cuisine lined up, such as ramen, tempura, karaage, Gyoza dumplings, Yakisoba (Japanese stir-fried noodles), Yakitori (Japanese chicken skewers), Okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), and Mochi Filled Cookies will be in attendance. Since NY's famous Japanese restaurants gather in JAPAN Fes, it is an excellent opportunity to enjoy eating those authentic Japanese flavors until completely satisfied.
After their heart’s content with the savory and sweet options, visitors can explore Japanese culture by actually seeing collectible Japanese-related goods only found at this event! JAPAN Fes offers vendors with rare pressing records and popular anime movie brochures. In addition, find a beautiful classic Kimono, an item of traditional Japanese clothing, and Tenugui, a traditional Japanese scarf.
Future JAPAN Fes Events:
Ramen Contest and Konamon Contest (Konamon means food made from flour like Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki) are planned so that Japanese cuisine enthusiasts and connoisseurs can look forward to tasting delicious dishes from dozens of vendors to vote for their favorite Ramen or Konamon. In the summer, New Yorkers can experience Japanese-style summer festivals at JAPAN Fes. Come attend warm weather festivities and the traditional Japanese summer dress, Yukata, there! Plus, many performances by Japanese performers will be set for future events!
